Badrinath |

It
is situated in Gharwal region and is associated with Lord Vishnu. It
is at the base of the Nar, Narayan and Neelkanth peaks. The two
rivers Alkhananda and Rishi Ganga meet beside the temple and the hot
spring here is known as the Tapt kund.
Legend
holds that Vishnu on being rebuked by Narad for enjoying worldly
pleasures came to this place for meditation and named this place 'Badrivan'
on the berries available on which he fed. |

kund as the name suggests is a lake at high altitude. The main
attraction is the Gurudwara. It is said that Shri Guru Govind
Singh Ji (Tenth Guru of Sikhs and the founder of the Khalsa Panth)

Gods are carved from tree trunks in a child like caricature. The
images kept here are of Lord Krishna, Balbhadra and
their sister Subhadra. |
