Rajasthan

Rajasthan, the land of the Kings, in India at its exotic and colourful best with its bettle-scarred forts, its palaces of breathtaking grandeur and whimsical charm, its riotous colours and even its romantic sense of pride and honour.

Jaipur : Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, is popularly known as the ' Pink City '. It sits on a dry lake bed in a somewhat arid landscape, surrounded by barren hills surmounted by forts and crenellated walls Jaipur has retained its strong Rajputana flavour tempered by several influences - the mughal being the most prominent. The region's strong cultural heritage is distinctly evident even today.

Maharashtra 

The Lands of Caves, Forts and Temples Mumbai is the capital of the Maharashtra State, India's fourth largest State, but it does not reflect the spirit of Maharashtra. The city is Maharashtra's avaricious heart, its soul lies in the interior of the State in cites like Pune, Kolhapur and Nagpur.

Mumbai : India's economic powerhouse, pulses with power and energy. This great city of more than ten million people is the capital of the state of Maharashtra and also the commercial capital of the whole country.

Ajanta & Ellora : The caves of Ajanta - 166 km north-east, Ellora caves about 30 km from Aurangabad. In Ellora caves are of Buddhist, Hindus and Jains. Caves at Ajanta decorated with remarkable murals that are universally regarded as some of india's finest artistic treasures.

Nagpur :  Nagpur is the orange-growing capital of India. It was once the capital of the central province, but was later incorporated into Maharashtra. 

Nashik : The interesting town with its 200 temples and picturesque bathing ghats stands on the Godavari River, one of the holiest rivers of the Deccan. Nasik is one of the four sites for the triennial Kumbh Mela, a huge Hindu gathering which take place here every 12 years.

Himanchal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh - the land of eternal snow peaks - takes in the transition zone from the plains to the high Himalaya and in the trans-Himalayan region of Lahaul and Spiti, actually crosses that mighty barrier to the Tibetan plateau. The Kullu valley, with its developed and tourist-oriented economy, can be considered the backbone of the state.

Shimla :This is the enchantment of nature's generous bounty and capital of Himanchal Pradesh. To the north, awesome snow ranges race across the horizon. In the cool breezes that flow down from them, they hold oak and rhododendron forests, stately cedars and wafting pines. There are tufts of ferns and wild flowers. There are langcridly strolling mists, spectacular sunsets and winter's deep blue skies. The air is clear crisp. A single day will bind you for a lifetime, for they say that shimla is like a wonderful habit.

Manali : It is believed that when the world was deluged with rain and all that was land, was covered by water, Manu first stepped off his celestial boat at Manali and it is here that the human race once again came into being. Described as the queen of hill stations, Manali is an idyllic town north of Kullu at an altitude of 6000 ft.

Kullu : Kullu was once known as Kulanthpitha - 'the end of the habitable world'. Beyond rose the forbidding heights of the Greater Himalayas, and by the banks of the shining river Beas, lay the fabled 'Silver Valley'. Here is the core of an intricate web of numerous valleys - each of which is a visual delight and seems more beautiful than the other. The 'Silver Valley' has nature's treasures that lie carelessly scattered as flowers on the high meadows. This wealth nestles by every tree in the splendid forests, it bursts forth in the blooms and in the fruit of every orchard.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has been the most dominant state in Indian poltics and culture since Independence, producing over half of India's prime ministers. This is partly because it's the nation's most populous - it has as many inhabitants as Brazil - and partly because of the central role the region plays in the religious lanscape of Hindus.

Lucknow: capital of India's most populous state - Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow, is evocative of a lifestyle long gone by - only its vestiges are still to be found in the city's mannerisms and habits. The city probably derives its name from the legend that Rama gave away this part of the country to Lakshmana, his yonger brother. Lucknow was the abode of the Nawabs of Avadh, and their regal pastimes and pleasures were legendry.

Agra : Known for Mughal architecture -the Taj Mahal and built several other beautiful buildings within the Agra Fort. Agra was once the capital of the Mughal empire and even today it seems to linger in the past. Not surprising, for the Mughal emperors with their passion for building, endowed the city with some of the finest structures in the world.

Allahabad :  Sacred city of Hinduism was formerly called 'Prayag' in commemoration of a sacrifice done by Lord Brahma. According to Hindu mythology for the 'Prakrishta Yagna' Lord Brahma chose a piece of land on the earth on the confluence of the three rivers - the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the mytical Sarswati.

Uttranchal

Dehra Dun : It is capital of Uttranchal, this old centre of the Raj is situated in the broad Doon Valley between the Siwaliks and the front range of the Himalaya. Dehra Dun is at the centre of a forest area and the Forest Research Institute is here.

Nainital : Surrounded by seven hills, the sparkling waters of a natural lake make it a gem among hill resorts.
Legend has it that the lake was formed when the Goddess Sati lost her eyes at this spot. She was being carried by Lord Shiva at time and a lake was formed as a result. 'Naina' (Eyes) 'Tal' (Lake) was thus given its name .

Mussoorie : Located at a height of 2000 meters, this picturesque hill resort was set up during the days of the "Raj". It's treks and walks down the famous Camel Back Road welcome visitors in the summer and in the winter. You can trek through the hills and jump over little hills, streams and flowers in the valley and proceed for rock climbing or mountaineering if you wish.

Delhi

The other Delhi, the imperial city created as the capital of India by the British . In addition to its historic interest and role as the government centre ,Delhi is a major travel gateway.The city of Delhi covers most of the Delhi Union Territory,which is a federal district similar to Washington DC, Canberra,or Brasilia.In 1911,the British asked Lutyens to give new meaning to city development which is reflected in the architectural designs and sophistication that buildings in delhi like Parliament House,Rashtrapati Bhavan,India Gate, Connaught Place and various administrative buildings like the South and North blocks along the breathtaking view available from Raj Path.

Red Fort is laid outalong the river Yamuna as an irregular octagon , surrounded by a wall of about 2.4 km in circumference and is built of red sandstone.

 Kutub Minar is 72.5 m high and has as its base a mosque. In front of the imposing structer is an Iron Pillar believed to have been built in the 5th century A.D. which has not caught rust ever since it was built.

India Gate Straight down the road from Rashtrapati Bhavan is India Gate which is primarily a memorial to unknown soldier. Designed by Lutyens , the 42 meter high structure is a war memorial in honour of soldiers who died during the second World War.

Lotus Temple is a very recent architectural marval of the Bahai faith and is visible from several spots in south delhi. Located in Kalkaji in the south of Delhi. It is Lotus shaped and has rightly been given the name.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh comprises of fertile coastal plains, semi arid Deccan plateau and the lofty hillscapes of the Eastern Ghats. Some of the incredible sights of Andhra Pradesh are the world's tallest masonry dam, million year old caves.

Hyderabad :The capital city of Andhra Pradesh is a bustling 400-year-old metropolis with an urban population of 4.2 million people approximately. It is located on the Deccan Plateau and the Musi River, 650m above sea level. The physiography of Hyderabad is dominated by hills, tanks, forests, and rock formations.

Vishakhapatnam : Built along the seashore of the Bay of Bengal, and is bounded and broken by the bold headland called the Dolphin's Nose (357m above the sea level). The city boasts of a beautiful beach with a long beach road ending at nearly Bheemunipatnam on the northern end. The surrounding area is dominated on the west by the well-forested Eastern Ghats and farther east is drained by numerous rivers, among them the Godavari and Indravati.

Tirupati : City is located in the southeastern part of Andhra Pradesh State. It lies about 152-km northwest of Chennai in the Palkonda Hills. Tirupati is known as the abode of the Hindu god Venkateshvara (also spelt as 'Venkatesvara'), "Lord of Seven Hills". About 10-km northwest of Tirupati, at an elevation of 750m, is the sacred hill of Tirumala, which was considered so holy that before 1870 non-Hindus were not permitted to ascend it.
